.Despair
This image represents the growing number of people imprisoned in The United States. Behind bars there is no hope, there is no escape. The United States has one of the highest incarceration rates of any country. The growing prison population is extracting funds that could be used for more productive means, rather than trapping people in metal cages. It is tragically ironic that a country that claims to pride itself on freedom, would at the same time imprison such large percentages of its' own population
Hope
In this image we see a young man about to begin breaking down the Berlin wall. The wall was constructed after World War II, and separated East Germany from West Germany. The image brings hope of a unified country and represents hope around the world. Borders and barriers may someday be torn down so that citizens may live harmoniously with one another.
I like your use of pictures, I think they both send a powerful message even without captions or text. I agree a lot with your first picture because I know family members and a few of my friends who are locked up in prison. Whenever I write to them and I receive their letter, it's nothing but heartache and sadness. They do feel like a locked up animal with no way out.
