With Hope and Despair

Despair

This image for me represents all that is wrong with America. The working class of America is taken advantage of daily by wealthy men and woman who wish to "guide America" as they see fit. As portrayed, the poor work the longest hours, do the worst jobs, are among the least healthy, and are the least paid. But without them America would cease to function and our country would be in utter chaos. Religion says that it wants to help people morally, ethically, and spiritually but constantly tells certain groups like the LGTB that what they do is immoral and wrong. The American Dream is a myth that is used to give people hope that one day they might be the ones holding the reigns.

Hope

Technology is the hope of America. Technology has opened the door to communicating with others on a global scale. People who have similar view points can now locate each other with relative ease. New innovations have erupted in almost all fields of study. Americans can be more informed about what our government is doing and what our politicians are saying . Protests can be organized quickly and can draw greater numbers than ever possible. People are becoming more connected and more conscious of world events. The American society is changing and becoming more about a global community that is informed and connected.

Religion in and of itself is not necessarily intolerant, however in reality it has become associated with LGBT discrimination through stereotypes -- and these stereotypes are unfortunately quite true. The problem here is not religion, but fundamentalists who use it as an excuse to tell others how to live.

  3. Great pictures! I also agree with you on the first picture; the government should be the one serving the country and not the other way around. In fact, the picture could be rotated upside down to represent how the government should function.

  4. I can completely relate to you how American society closely resembles a food pyramid. There are so many exploitations of the people in power to the poor that it's literally disgusting. However, I don't believe the American Dream is a myth. It still lives in the minds of people, and the fact that the belief is still there gives me the motivation to make the change in the world I live in. I think that's one of the crucial tasks for our generation; to redistribute the concentration of power and money into our society. Technology-wise, I am completely in concurrence with you. I actually wrote about the same thing. Technology is a platform where ideas can be shared instantly, and I think that is something truly powerful. New innovations should be the foundation to bring reforms. Hopefully, technology will not use its vast potential to further enslave the powerless. Fantastic job!

  5. I totally agree i will start by choosing technology currently evolving everyday, so i think technology will impact education by providing abundant opportunities for students to build or modify their personal knowledge through the experiences that technology affords.
