Response #2

Image of Despair: Bank of America

Analysis:

Banks are at the heart of economic prosperity. It is critical for a nation to have efficient banks that fluctuate the flow of money. Furthermore, institutions are supposed to be created in favor of the entire population. These traits are imperative to the foundation of a flourishing economy. However, Bank of America fails to meet any of these expectations. Bank of America was essentially at the root of the economic collapse of 2008, and responsible for millions of Americans falling in to economic despair. It is apparent that these catastrophes were resulted by plots to reap personal profits. They were professionals at defraudation, and utterly indifferent to the atrocities they were committing. Bank of America literally owes American citizens hundreds of billions of dollars. As if this isn't enough, the government deemed Bank of America "Too Big to Fail", and awarded them $45 billion dollars of taxpayers money to rescue the permeated corruption. Bank of America will continue to be terrible bankers living off of defenseless citizens, protected by the American government. The exploits of Bank of America is a full on attack on the American Dream. The American Dream is based off the idea that every American has the opportunity to achieve happiness if they work hard and obey the law. How are people supposed to find inspiration in vocation and justice if the people that are most rewarded in this society are the most corrupt and incompetent?

Image of Hope: Technology

Analysis:

In my opinion, there are a few things harder than predicting the future. However, it is that uncertainty that gives us hope. Technology is evolving at an unprecedented rate, and replacing many of the prior dispositions of society. The economic term for this is called creative destruction. Whatever direction technology takes us, it is inevitable that it will bring upon groundbreaking changes in daily life. Just like every other thing, there are various pros and cons to the development of technology. However, the sheer potential of change that technology can bring to mankind fills me with hope. Technology has been constantly making incredible positive contributions to the world. The Egyptian Revolution, Occupy Wall Street, and the LGBT community are all examples of how technology catalyzed positive change in our society. The democratization of technology is a colossal factor that brings hope for favorable reformations. Adding on, the overall well-being of the United States has a direct relationship with how many people consider themselves capable to be able to fulfill the American dream. Hopefully, technology will continue to provide the grounds for institutional change. I want to emphasize that institutional change is THE pivotal factor in order for the 99% to repossess the prospect of an American Dream. Finally, I have no choice but to put faith in technology to bring upon beneficial radical changes into our imperfect world.
