A Generation Hobbled by the Soaring Cost of College
This article primarily provides the statistical analysis of the rising costs of college tuition, and what it means for our generation. This is a highly prevalent topic in the United States, and one of the most significant aspects of the polarization between the wealthy and everyone else. Education is at the foundation of economic prosperity, and it does not make sense that one's access to higher education depends on the income level of their family. Especially in a time of revolutionary technological advances and a period in which intellect is becoming increasingly valuable, it is a widely held belief that education should be available to as many people as possible. However, the reality is completely contradictory to what makes sense. The fact that corrupt corporations are getting tax breaks while students are forced to drown in colossal amounts of debt is incredulous to me. It seems that institutions are becoming continually modified to benefit the few wealthiest people in society. The most disturbing part is that school is only one of the many institutions in the United States that are diminishing in performance.
Millennials Didn't Abandon Our Institutions - Our Institutions Failed Them
There are way too many contradictions in the institutions of the United States of America. Institutions are supposed to be set up to benefit the entire population, and propel the nation towards prosperity. However, it seems that most of the institutions that are set up today strongly promote stagnation and decline. The recent discourse of healthcare, religion, the school system, corporations, the law, and politicians in this country are completely in contrast to the notion of trustworthiness. This article correctly addresses the decreasing amount of trust our generation has for the government, and the rationale for this disposition. There is a desperate necessity to change the characteristics of many of our institutions, and it is my position that it is primarily our generation's responsibility to bring upon those changes.
