This blog is an interactive place where you can share your writing with your classmates. The blog creates a great place for writing because it can easily be seen by other students in our class, and you can respond to your classmates' work, taking their ideas further. The blog format is meant to be less formal and more creative than the academic essays you write in class. This is where you can explore your voice as a writer, and take some risks with your style and ideas. Happy blogging!

Two Classes, Divided by 'I Do' & The Glass Castle
In the article "Two Classes, divided by 'I Do" by Jason DeParle, The "American Dream" is again discussed but towards a different idea. This article explains how family structure has an affect on the social class. The two mothers Ms. Faulkner and Ms. Schairer. Both friends and have similar pay, they are separated in this article by their martial status. Ms. Faulkner is married and lives on two incomes, while Ms Schairer has to support herself. When you compare this article to The Glass Castle, Rex and Rosemary stay married throughout the book. Similar to Ms. Faulkner situation, a mother and father brings different perspectives to the table. In The Glass Castle, Rex is a very mathematical and logical man. While Rosemary is very original and likes to think "Outside the Box" a little. Also the article gives an argument that families with two incomes have an advantage in terms of income and nurturing time. Although The Walls family wasn't in financial stable. I do think that the parents in The Glass Castle gave their children plenty of nurturing time. Rosemary and Rex did give their children plenty of lifelong lessons that gave them success in their adult lives today.
